This very physical solo from one of Australia’s most remarkable contemporary dance artists emerged from a unique opportunity to participate in a scientific expedition to the Antarctic. Aerowaves Twenty19 has recognised HYPERSPACE as one of the twenty best dance productions in Europe.
In a contemplative performance, James Batchelor visibly expresses the endeavour to create a conversation between scientific and artistic inquiry. HYPERSPACE offers a vision of the human body seen through the prism of cosmology, a mapping of the universe within and around it. The detailed choreography emphasises the delicacy and mortality of the body. James Batchelor has a strong desire to investigate and his work demands to be viewed and thought about. With minimalism on a massive to infinitesimal scale, HYPERSPACE proves that even a small movement can be virtuosic.
The program will take place even in unfavorable weather, in the case of rain, outdoor production will be moved in. Capacity of inner space of the castle is limited, we recommend arriving early enough. Outdoors are unlimited.
