Jan Bárta: Pitch
What exactly is it that captures our attention? How long must we concentrate, in order to perceive a specific object or action? In a performance for a single performer and a drum kit, Jan Barta rejects the brief and superficial, challenges the spectator’s concentration and offers a dense, fascinating experience.
Pitch is a minimalist slapstick that refuses to accept ubiquitous overloading and rebels against obsessive attempts to carefully grasp each moment in a never-ending flood of stimuli. KoresponDance presents Pitch in a site-specific format that gives it two distinct shapes. You can view the performance at Prague’s Invalidovna, and/or at the Žďár Estate, where the historical surroundings heighten its sense of urgency. Jan Bárta presents physical theatre in a pure form and can fill even an entirely open space with resonant energy that is almost audible.

Our age is essentially one of understanding and reflection, without passion, momentarily bursting into enthusiasm, and shrewdly relapsing into repose.”Søren Kierkegaard
