POCKETART (CZ): Treatment of Remembering

Imagine you**1**re breathing. Nature is dead and there is no going back. Do you remember how it felt when we could breathe together? When we could sink our feet into the grass? When raindrops fell on us?

Together with the audience, three performers undergo a process of remembering at a moment when nature has been depleted by humankind. In an artificial imitation of the world, we are forced to reach inside ourselves and reflect on our relationship to nature and the environment. The choreography and minimalist, yet dominant, scenography evoke a sense of timelessness. Complemented by complex, sensitive music and intense lighting states, the work bears witness to an alarming demise. An expressive, tender apocalyptic vision, Treatment of Remembering is a meditative social critique, or a guide to the creation of a new kind of world.

POCKETART is a collective of artists working in contemporary dance and physical theatre under the leadership of choreographers Johana Pocková and Sabina Bočková. In their projects, the collective brings together artists from the fields of dance, music, scenography, fine arts and lighting design. Their work is distinct for its themes, which transcend the personal experience of individuals to address social problems such as media manipulation, the global environmental crisis, the stress of competition and the position of the human being in the corporate work environment. Treatment of Remembering received the International Jury Prize and Audience Award at the 2021 Czech Dance Platform and is part of the prestigious Aerowaves Twenty22.
